I am sure name is well known for all the music lovers. Great musician in the Bollywood with the perfect touch of Indian melody. He is so versatile, well rounded to sing any kind of music. I was surprised to see him performing raga Hansdhvani with great command on notes as a classical music concert with Bhajan in Marathi (by Pt.Bhimsen Joshi) the best thing is, his most of the compositions have classical touch though it has western rhythm. His live performances with Zakir Hussien are extraordinary. Real musician will never give up the essence of the genuine artistic and musical things though they are in commercial music field. At present, he is the only guy in Bollywood who represents the great Indian melody with sincerity, affection and respect towards it. The thing is we get exposure to music that media and music companies are forcing on us on and on, it is kind of hammering, after hearing, many times, it sounds great to our ear. Now we could not appreciate classical music because we do not get to hear often. Most of the countries they have separate channels for classical but we do not have one. Shankar should come up with classical album; it will sell in millions, which will be great exposure to the classical music. Any way still he is doing great job.
