Dispute over yoga, problem for Hindu identity.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011, 1:08:38 PM | Vedang Dharashive
According toThe New York Times and The Washington Post, HAF’s Shukla and New Age guru Deepak Chopra got into a spat. Shukla complained the yoga industry wasn't giving credit to Hinduism, and called Chopra a "philosophical profiteer", while Chopra argued that yoga existed in "consciousness and consciousness alone" much before Hinduism.
US yoga industry does not hide the origins of what it teaches. On the contrary, in a country that is so young and so constantly in flux, yoga’s presumed antiquity (‘the 5,000-year-old exercise system’, etcetera.) and its connections with Eastern spirituality have become part of the sales pitch."
In Nanda's words: "There is only one problem with this purist history of yoga: it is false. Yogic asanas were never ‘Vedic’ to begin with. Far from being considered the crown jewel of Hinduism, yogic asanas were in fact looked down upon by Hindu intellectuals and reformers—including the great Swami Vivekananda—as fit only for sorcerers, fakirs and jogis."

Brain Shrinking
Thursday, February 10, 2011, 8:58:09 PM | Vedang Dharashive
Do you know why you lose some of your memory function
when you age? It's because the brain actually shrinks. This, you
are no doubt thinking, is something that most definitely can't be
reversed. Everyone should just accept that an agile brain and an
excellent memory are things of the past once they hit middle
age. But not so, according to a recent study done by researchers
in Columbus, Ohio. Results show that a one-year period of
exercise doesn't only slow down brain shrinkage -- it could
also actually reverse it!

miracle within each of us.

Our marvelous human body possesses the awesome ability to repair and renew itself as long as we live. In reality, a doctor's role in the healing process is very small. Most of the job -- as much as 90% of it -- is accomplished without any need of a physician or his medicines. No matter how old you are, it will generate new skin, bones tissue, muscle, and cells. Your immune system will continue to conquer bacteria and viruses, colds and flu, cancer and other diseases. And your wounds and bruises will heal, just as they have all your life.
You must provide your body's remarkable repair power with the nutritional materials and building blocks it needs to keep going and growing.

Lifestyle.

Here is an equation that should come as no surprise: more

walking equals less risk for diabetes. After all, type 2 diabetes

has been called a "lifestyle" disease by medical experts, meaning

that it could be avoided if you eat a healthy diet and get exercise.

So walking -- which is just about the simplest and most

accessible activity you can do -- becomes a powerful tool in the

prevention of diabetes. The more you walk, the lower the risk of

diabetes.

How wonderful is that after spending whole life in different countries as well as beautiful place like Goa in India. Now recently moved in to my Farm House. Which is constructed on 10 acres of land surrounded by 5000 trees including Jatropha, mango, sapota( Chiku), Guava, Tamarind, pomegranate, gooseberry(Amla),almond,Coconut, jack fruit and many more? Such a quiet place away from village, town and people, just by yourself with family. All the trees are like babies to me, early morning I try to visit each and every tree and check if they need something. I like to take care of them and I know the importance of that in the name of global warming. At list it would contribute to reduce the emission in the air. Fruit bearing is started. It is kind of morning walk for me ,Sony’s media player in the pocket playing Tanpura and I keep on practicing my music. Such a great pleasure. Though I am in the remote place of country side, still I am connected to the people around the world. Teaching music on line, 4000 friends on facebook, 1000 on orkut and many more on different social networking sights. 275000 visitors to my blog http://vedangdharashivemusic.blogspot.com/ Isn`t it amazing.

Finally I am going to live my kind of life.

Whatever it may be for the sake of argument, whole world knows India is great Guru of the world.
